Are allergies on the rise in children?

There are many reasons why so many more children are suffering from conditions caused by allergies, such as asthma and eczema. Environmental sensitivities, food additives and increased stress levels could be some possible causes. A child's exposure to some daily allergens can be controlled to a degree, and attention to diet can really help keep some reactions at bay.
Eczema and asthma are very closely related. The skin is known to be the third lung. In individuals who have weak lungs, eczema may easily develop into asthma. On a physical level, toxins that rise to the skin's surface can also go inwards to the lungs. And on an emotional level, the restrained feelings that can cause eczema can also cause asthma. Emotional factors such as stress can be a major cause in individuals over seven years of age developing these diseases.
What I believe is invaluable in treating this issue is a combination of herbal and nutritional supportive therapies taken on a regular basis to invest in the health of the immune system. As a child with asthma, I was given steroids often and had weekly allergy shots. I cannot help but think if I was given supportive therapies that my asthma might not have turned into a chronic condition.
Here is a smoothie recipe that is a great way to administer herbs and nutritional aids and...tastes good. Use all organic ingredients, if possible. Combine ingredients in a blender until smooth.

Breakfast of Champions Smoothie
1 cup juice (apple, diluted if desired)
1/2 cup frozen fruit (blueberries, strawberries)
1/4 frozen banana (peel and slice before freezing)
1 tbs. flax oil (rich in Omega 3 Oils, increases resistance to infection and allergies, improves skin disorders)
4 droppersful Kid's Be Well

Other useful ingredients:

2 to 4 droppersful Skin Clear (support healthy liver for improved skin conditions).
2 to 4 droppersful Kid's Choice (specific for head and chest congestion and inflamed skin conditions.).
1/4 to 1/2 tsp. All-Flora (mixture of probiotics - very useful to replace friendly flora in the gut after steriods or antibiotics).
1 to 2 tsp. Immugreen Plus protein powder.
